PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate incoming animals for possible placement in the Adoption Center
  • Perform physical exams of incoming animals surrendered to the Animal Humane Society and treat according to shelter policy
  • Perform daily treatments and monitoring of shelter animals in accordance with shelter policy
  • Complete medical and surgical procedures in a competent, safe and efficient manner
  • Assist in all aspects of surgical sterilization on all adoptable animals
  • Perform Behavior Evaluations on shelter dogs as part of the evaluation process
  • Enter required data into computer system
  • Perform humane euthanasia on animals deemed not adoptable per shelter protocols
  • Work collaboratively with all other staff in the animal services department to ensure animals are being cared for properly and moving through the system efficiently
  • Respond to customer problems and concerns regarding animals adopted from the Society as necessary
  • Participate in special events and other duties as assigned
  • Assist the staff veterinarian with the examination of animals seized during a cruelty examination

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Certification as a Veterinary Technician preferred or minimum of one year of experience as a Veterinary Technician
  • Preferred candidates will have animal shelter experience
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Ability to effectively handle and control incoming animals
  • Ability to handle complex and/or emotional situations
  • Ability to accurately evaluate the health and condition of animals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working independently, multi-tasking and prioritizing
  • Willingness to travel among all 5 shelter campuses as needed to provide adequate coverage

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Present educational programs, on site and at local schools and community locations, to promote animal welfare and humane messages
  • Develop and lead youth club activities for teens
  • Prepare for and host birthday parties for children
  • Conduct tours of the Society's facilities for visiting groups
  • Perform administrative duties to support animal therapy visiting program

  • Accurately process animal adoptions, customer holds, and merchandise sales in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
  • Open and close adoption center, including securing building, preparing daily reports and balancing of cash drawers
  • Accept and properly register stray and surrendered animals from individuals and solicit fees for services
  • Complete documentation and follow-up on surrender scenarios requiring ownership verification
  • Accurately process animal reclaims, returns and collect appropriate fees in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Accurately and promptly process lost and found pet reports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Summary of Position

We are currently seeking a Pet Boarding Manager to develop and oversee a new pet boarding and dog day care facility at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Airport. This position will be responsible for oversight of the facility, which includes development of services, customer relations, staffing, financial oversight, and facilities management.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 7 years related experience along with strong business acumen and demonstrated leadership skills.
